Evolution of Practices

TERRA FORMA brings together numerous teams from various disciplines (engineering, computer science, environmental sciences) that had not necessarily worked together before. This large number of collaborators represents a shift in scale that requires the evolution of individual and collective practices.

TERRA FORMA emphasizes the following aspects :

Product Quality Assurance

TERRA FORMA aims to integrate its instrumental developments into a product assurance approach—standard in major instrumentation projects, but relatively unfamiliar to the Surfaces and Continental Interfaces research community.

To achieve this, we rely on engineers from the INSU Technical Division, who support the teams in structuring their developments—for example, by assisting in the drafting of project documentation and the preparation of milestone reviews. The quality control framework agreement established by INSU also enables us to supplement this support with external service providers.

The institute itself is implementing a quality approach for scientific data, including calibration control of the instruments producing that data—a process that aligns well with the evolution in practices initiated by TERRA FORMA.

Moreover, the eRECA resource-sharing service will require the definition of best practices for the documentation submitted to the platform, in order to ensure its usefulness for the reuse or replication of previously developed instrumentation.
